Carry On My Wayward Son
Kansas
Carry on my wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
But I flew too high
Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I’m dreaming
I can hear them say
Carry on our wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
Well
It surely means that I don’t know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about like I’m a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say
Carry on our wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry no more
No
Carry on
You will always remember
Carry on
Nothing equals the splendor
Now your life’s no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you
Carry on our wayward son
There’ll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don’t you cry
Don’t you cry no more
No more

Hold On
Kansas
Look in the mirror and tell me
Just what you see
What have the years of your life
Taught you to be
Innocence dying in so many ways
Things that you dream of are lost
Lost in the haze
Hold on
Baby hold on
‘Cause it’s closer than you think
And you’re standin’ on the brink
Hold on
Baby hold on
‘Cause there’s something on the way
Your tomorrow’s not the same as today
Don’t you recall what you felt
When you weren’t alone
Someone who stood by your side
A face you have known
Where do you run when it’s too much to bear
Who do you turn to in need
When nobody’s there
Hold on
Baby hold on
‘Cause it’s closer than you think
And you’re standin’ on the brink
Hold on
Baby hold on
‘Cause there’s something on the way
Your tomorrow’s not the same as today
Outside your door He is waiting
Waiting for you
Sooner or later you know
He’s got to come through
No hesitation and no holding back
Let it all go and you’ll know
You’re on the right track
Hold on
Baby hold on
Hold onto me baby
‘Cause it’s closer than you think
And you’re standin’ on the brink
Hold on
Baby hold on
Yeah I need you by my side
‘Cause there’s something on the way
Your tomorrow’s not the same
Hold on
Baby hold on
I’m reachin’ for you baby
‘Cause it’s closer than you think
And you’re standin’ on the brink
Hold on
Baby hold on
There’s something around the corner
‘Cause there’s something on the way
Your tomorrow’s not the same
Hold on

Ah, now I'm going to be wondering why I've mysteriously got 'Kansas' melodies running through my head all day.... :)

Great songs. I remember Kansas well from classic rock radio years ago.
Great Songs!
ReplyDeleteCarry On My Wayward Son replaced Molly Hatchet's Flirtin' With Disaster as my own personal theme song after I went through the change. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Rob!!!

Kansas has turned out to be one of my all-time favorites bands, which my dad would have gotten a big kick out of. For he used to tease my mom, brother and I about him being from a much more sophisticated state (Kansas) and we were all nothing more than a bunch of dumb Arkies. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Jackie!!!
