This weekly series
will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby
little hands on (so to speak). Now, each
one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit
only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered. For I just cannot bring myself to rate some
higher than others. So, this will not be
a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t
matter. Besides, with no countdown, this
could go on forever and ever! Oh, and
despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can
be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to
make. I am, after all, quite magnanimous
by nature.

Joy to the World
Three Dog Night
Jeremiah was a bull
frog
Was a good friend
of mine
I never understood
a single word he said
But I helped him
drink his wine
And he always had
some mighty fine wine
Singin'
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls now
Joy to the fishes in
the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
If I were the king
of the world
Tell you what I'd
do
I'd throw away the
cars and the bars and the wars
Make sweet love to
you
Singin' now
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
You know I love the
ladies
Love to have my fun
I'm a high night
flier and a rainbow rider
A straight-shootin'
son of a gun
I said
A straight-shootin'
son of a gun
Joy to the world
All the boys and girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls
Joy to the world
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls now
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls
Joy to the fishes
in the deep blue sea
Joy to you and me
Joy to the world
All the boys and
girls…

Joy to the world
Let Heaven and
nature sing
Let Heaven and
nature sing
Now Johnny never
got his wish
On December 25th
That’s what he said
When we left the
orphanage
9 years old
But Johnny was an
old soul
Gonna spend his
first Christmas
In a real home
Showed me a picture
That he drew the
night before
Was a picture of a
man
Standin’ outside a
door
I asked him who it
was
And he said
Someone I only see
in dreams
Comforts me
When I cry myself
to sleep
Father of the
fatherless
Be with your sons
and daughters
This Christmas
This Christmas
Believe in angels
Johnny asked me
Starin’ at the sky
I said I do
And saw a sparkle
in his eye
Big brother for the
weekend
Respondin’ to the season
Took the chance
That givin’s better
than receivin’
Two nights
A new family
Some holiday cheer
We laughed and sang
Came on a midnight
clear
We gave
Received
And as we headed to
close
We looked to the
heavens
And it started to
snow
Down blessings
Father of the
fatherless
Be with your sons
and daughters
This Christmas
You ain’t livin’
‘Til you choose to
give
Love and joy and
peace
To one of His
Father let us not
forget
The children who
are all alone
This Christmas
You ain’t livin’
‘Til you choose to
give
You ain’t livin’
‘Til you choose to
give
Religion that God
our Father
Accepts as pure and
faultless
Is this
To look after
orphans
And widows
In their distress
[James 1:27]
Merry Christmas
everyone
Joy to the world
The Lord is come

Let Heaven and

Let Heaven and

Gonna spend his

In a real home

Let Heaven and
nature sing
You ain’t livin’
‘Til you choose to
give
You ain’t livin’
‘Til you choose to
give
Don’t leave me all
alone
This Christmas
Merry Christmas
everyone

I tried to watch the second video but I just couldn't do it. In my opinion rap should not do Christmas songs and most especially if they are going to they should leave the lyrics from traditional Christmas hymns out
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! It is disappointing to me that you did not like TobyMac's This Christmas, but I understand that musical tastes vary from person to person. I hope you-all missed out on the ice storm that swept through up there.
ReplyDelete3 dog night OK.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! Back in the day, I liked them better than I did The Beatles, and this started with their Joy to the World. Ah yes, I can remember my little brother and me giggling every time we heard about Jeremiah being a bullfrog. It must have drove our dad nuts, with him being such a huge fan of Big Band music, but he graciously allowed us to listen to what we wanted to.
