ATF: Plumb Crazy

This weekly series will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to make.  I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Crazy On You
Heart
We may still have time
We might still get by
Every time I think about it
I want to cry
With the bombs and the devils
And the kids keep coming
Nowhere to breathe easy
No time to be young

No time

But I tell myself
That I'm doing alright
There's nothing left to do tonight
But go crazy on you
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy
Crazy on you

Yeah

My love is the evening breeze
Touching your skin
The gentle sweet singing
Of leaves in the wind
The whisper that calls
After you in the night
And kisses your ear
In the early light

Yeah
Oooh

And you don't need to wonder
You're doing fine
Myy love
The pleasure's mine
Let me go crazy on you
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy
Crazy on you

Oh

Wild man's world
Is crying in pain
What you gonna do
When everybody's insane
So afraid of fortune
So afraid of you
What you gonna do
Oh
I wonder
What you gonna do

Oh

Aaah
Crazy on you
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy on you
Let me go crazy
Crazy on you

Yeah

I was a willow
Last night in my dream
I bent down over
A clear running stream
I sang you the song
That i heard up above
And you keep me alive
With your sweet flowing love

Crazy
Crazy
Crazy on you
Oooh
Let me go crazy
Oh
Crazy on you
Let me go crazy
Crazy on you

Aaah
Aaah
Aaah
Aaah
Oh
Crazy
Crazy on you
Crazy
Let me go crazy
Crazy
Crazy on you
Oh oh

Crazy Times
Jars of Clay
You're cold that way
And that's why you say
The things that you say
You can't attract
The things that you lack
You're trying in vain

It seems
It's always the crazy times
You find
You'll wake up and realize
It takes
More than your saline eyes
To make things right

You spiral down
You've broken your crown
You don't feel like a queen
You've seen the proof
But you're still crying wolf
You'll never believe

It seems
It's always the crazy times
You find
You'll wake up and realize
It takes
More than your saline eyes
To make things right

You try to climb a broken ladder
Grip the missing rungs
And fall
Down
Down
Down
Down
Seems some time ago you said
This wouldn't last
And now you sit here crying

Beside your bed
You feel left for dead
You kneel in the dark

It takes
More than your saline eyes
To make things right

It seems
It's always the crazy times
You find
You'll wake up and realize
It takes
More than your saline eyes
To make things right

Good, Bad and Ugly Ads

Since I have not been given much of a life, I watch an awful lot of television, which includes an awful lot of commercials.  Now, a “GOOD” ad is one that holds my attention and makes me want to at least learn more about the product or service it is for.  A “BAD” ad is one that quickly becomes nothing more than background noise when it cannot be skipped over.  “UGLY” ads are much worse.  For not only do they make we want to never see them again, they make me want to never have anything to do with the company that paid for them to be produced.  Of course, you may feel differently, but I sure wouldn’t say much about it around anyone with a lick of sense.  For I am, after all, an expert on such things—albeit only in my own mind!

GOOD

BAD

UGLY

TFT: Martha Reeves

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair while others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Nowhere To Hide
Martha and The Vandellas
Nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide

It's not love
I'm runnin’ from
It's the heartaches
That I know will come
'Cause I know
You're no good for me
But you’ve become
A part of me
Everywhere I go
Your face I see
Every step I take
You take with me
Yeah

Nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide

I know
You're no good for me
But free of you
I'll never be
No

Each night
As I sleep
Into my heart
You creep
I wake up feelin’
Sorry I met you
Hopin’ soon
That I'll forget you
When I look in the mirror
And comb my hair
I see your face
Just a-smilin’ there

Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide

I know
You're no good for me
But you've become
A part of me

How can I fight a lover
That's sugar sweet
When it's so deep
So deep
Deep inside of me
My love reaches so high
I can't get over it
It's so wide
I can't get around it
No

Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
From you baby
Just can't get away
From you baby
No matter how I try
I know
You're no good for me
But free of you
I'll never be
Nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run to baby
Nowhere to hide
Got nowhere to run
Got nowhere to run

Dancing in the Street
Martha and The Vandellas
Callin' out around the world
Are you ready for a brand new beat
Summer's here
And the time is right
For dancin' in the street

They’re dancin' in Chicago
Dancin' in the street
Down in New Orleans
Dancin' in the street
In New York City
Dancin' in the street
All we need is music
Sweet sweet
Sweet
Sweet sweet
Music
They'll be music
Music
Everywhere
Everywhere
They'll be swingin'
And swayin'
And records playin'
Dancin' in the street

Oh
It doesn't matter what you wear
Just as long as you are there
So come on
Every guy
Grab a girl
Everywhere
Around the world
They’ll be dancin'
Dancin’ in the street
They’re dancin in the street
Dancin' in the street

This is an invitation
Across the nation
A chance for folks to meet
They'll be laughin'
Singin'
And music swingin'
We're dancin' in the street

Philadelphia P.A.
Dancin' in the street
Baltimore and D.C. now
Dancin' in the street
Can't forget the Motor City
Dancin' in the street
All we need is music
Sweet sweet
Sweet music
Sweet sweet music
They'll be music everywhere
Everywhere
They'll be swingin' and swayin'
Swayin'
And records playin'
Playin'
Dancin' in the street

Oh
It doesn't matter what you wear
Just as long as you are there
So come on
Every guy
Grab a girl
Everywhere
Around the world
They’re dancin'
They’re dancin' in the street
Dancin’ in the street
Way down in L.A.
Everyday
They’re dancin' in the street
In the street
Let's form a big strong line
Get in time
We're dancin' in the street
Dancin' in the street
Across the ocean blue
Me and you
They’re dancin’ in the street
Dancin’ in the street

Come Monday...Crumbling Idol

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about,  websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can be good—right?  Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

We have only watched one episode of [American Idol] this season, and I must admit that the main reason for why we wanted to see even that first one was on account of all of “stuff” that had been reported about the feud between [Nicki Minaj] and [Mariah Carey].  For Arlynda and I have been steadily losing interest in the show for quite some time now.

The reason for why we have been losing interest in the show is because of our questioning the integrity of the process—especially in the rounds that whittle the field down to the final 12 or so.  For they often let through those whom make us look at each other with great disbelief and dismiss others we consider as being truly great.

Yeah, it all comes down to musical tastes, but keep in mind that I am huge fan of [Led Zeppelin], whose songs have Robert Plant doing more screaming than singing much of the time.  Therefore, it is really saying something (so to speak) when a singer makes me cringe, and there have been several let through by the judges on American Idol over the years who have had me checking to see how badly my ears were bleeding.

Alas, I cannot say for sure that the days of a [Kelly Clarkson] or [Carrie Underwood] being discovered are over, but I do wonder if either one of them would even receive a golden ticket to Hollywood these days.  Now, I was a fan of [Phillip Phillips], who won last season, but that had much more to do with his incredible guitar playing than his singing abilities.

When it appeared to be worse this year, we just couldn’t bring ourselves to watch another episode.  Nonetheless, we were pleasantly surprised to see that Nicki Minaj is not the ogre she was being presented as being like.  In fact, she came across as being quite endearing in her support of many of the contestants while [Keith Urban] came across as a tone-deaf jerk more times than not.

Alas, it may very well be that Arlynda and I are just a whole lot older and crankier than we would like to recognize, but we cannot see American Idol lasting too much longer.  In fact, we would be surprised if this is not the last season for the show, but in all fairness, we are absolutely shocked that [The Voice] is being brought back.  For that show makes American Idol look like a serious competition.

A Sunday Drive

Back during my childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and me after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived.  Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a weekly series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again.  The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.

Trib Updates

This is a weekly series that will include a brief summary of the latest articles that have been published on The Tribulation Times Herald-Exhorter.  Hopefully, this will encourage you to go check out some truly outstanding articles that have been published by a number of truly outstanding authors.  Moreover, I hope this will also encourage you to want to become a contributing member/author, as well.  The “Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!” site explanation near the top of the side-bar should answer many of your questions.  Yes, this series also included an “SOS! (Spam On Saturdays)”  segment before, but it just wasn’t working for me.  Therefore, that will be replaced by a republishing of one of the Trib articles.

[Carnival Clowns] has some thoughts about the recent Carnival Triumph nightmare.

[Cramer and Cummins] has me admitting that my enthusiasm for CNBC programming is waning.

[ESPN Additions] shows what can happen when a king leaves his throne unguarded.

[WhiteHeart Wednesday] contains a video and the lyrics for Heaven of My Heart.

According to [OzarksFirst.com] and several other local news outlets, the “stuff” is starting to hit the proverbial fan over [Springfield Brewing Company] posting on their Facebook page: "Yesterday scientists revealed that beer contains small traces of female hormones. To prove their theory, the scientists fed 100 men 12 pints of beer and observed that 100% of them gained weight, talked excessively without making sense, became emotional, and couldn't drive. No further testing is planned."  As if that was not enough, the business offered in reply to the building outrage: "We apologize if this offended you- purely meant as a light-hearted joke," a SBC employee typed on behalf of the business. "Contrary to popular belief, this post was written and approved by three women. We understand that humor is a very fluid thing, and varies person to person. Take this as a joke, and nothing more."

Umm, I can see where the “joke” might garner some laughs at a late night comedy club as part of a stand-up set by someone bemoaning the virtues of drinking, but how can it be considered funny by the makers of beer that they are trying to sell for a living?  For the offense to women in general is obvious, and what self-deluded manly man is going to want to be seen drinking an [11 Point] while his buddies are wondering out loud if he might be trying to get in touch with his feminine side?

So, does this mean that the Springfield Brewing Company is run by some really fair and very happy people?  I had no idea that our community had become that progressive.
