TFT: James Taylor

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair while others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

You’ve Got A Friend
James Taylor
When you're down
And troubled
And you need a helpin’ hand
And nothin’
Whoa nothin’ is goin’ right
Close your eyes and think of me
And soon I will be there
To brighten up
Even your darkest nights

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin’
To see you again
Winter
Spring
Summer
Or fall
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there
Yeah yeah yeah
You've got a friend

If the sky
Above you
Should turn dark and full of clouds
And that old
North wind should begin to blow
Keep your head together
And call my name out loud
Soon I will be knockin’
Upon your door

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin’
Oh yes I will
To see you again
Winter
Spring
Summer
Or fall
Yeah
All you got to do is call
And I'll be there
Yeah yeah yeah

Hey ain't it good to know
That you've got a friend
People can be so cold
They'll hurt you
And desert you
Well they'll take your soul
If you let them
Oh yeah
But don't you let them

You just call out my name
And you know wherever I am
I'll come runnin’
To see you again
Oh baby
Don’t you know about
Winter
Spring
Summer
Or fall
Hey now
All you got to do is call
Lord I'll be there
Yes I will
You've got a friend
You've got a friend
Yeah
Ain't it good to know
You've got a friend
Ain't it good to know
You've got a friend
Oh yeah yeah
You've got a friend

Country Road
James Taylor
Take to the highway
Won't you lend me your name
Your way and my way
Seem to be one and the same

Mamma don't understand it
She wants to know where I've been
I'd have to be some kind of natural born fool
To want to pass that way again
But you know I could feel it
On a country road

Sail on home to Jesus
Won't you good girls and boys
I'm all in pieces
You can have your own choice

But I can hear a heavenly band full of angels
And they're comin’ to set me free
I don't know nothin’ 'bout the why or when
But I can tell that it's bound to be
Because I could feel it
Child
Yeah
On a country road

I guess my feet know
Where they want me to go
Walkin’ on a country road

Take to the highway
Won't you lend me your name
Your way and my way
Seem to be one and the same
Child

Mamma don't understand it
She wants to know where I've been
I'd have to be some kind of natural born fool
To want to pass that way again
But I could feel it
Lord
On a country road

Walk on down
Walk on down
Walk on down
Walk on down
Walk on down a country road
Na na na na na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na na na na na
Country road
Whoa
Yeah
Walkin’ on a country road

Country road
Woo
Country road

  1. Didn't he used to go out with Carly Simon?

  2. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Tony!!! Well, I suppose one could say that. For they were married for around 10 years (I think). Now, the more interesting question would be concerning whether or not he was going out with Carole King while still married to Carly.

  3. Funny thing about his music, it seems there are certain times in my life I go drifting back to hear his sweet tunes....sometimes just in my own head! :)

  4. I like his sound. Several of his songs are some of my favorite oldies.

  5. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Karen!!! You might find at least the last part of The Nineteenth Crumb of The Crackerhead Chronicles interesting. It starts around the last third of the crumb/chapter.

  6. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! It baffles me why he is not more of a favorite of mine. For many of his songs are truly great in all respects, and yet, I rarely think of him as being among my all-time favorites. Anyway, I feel in love with "Country Road" when we performed an instrumental arrangement of it while I was a member of the Stage Band at Cassville Hish during the 1970s.

  7. Did the wife pick these for you? It's unusual for you to have two good ones.
