A Sunday Drive

Back during my childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and I after Sunday morning church services for a leasurely drive around where we lived. Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a weekly series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again.

  1. Wow! "The Sunday Drive", does that ever bring back memories! We didn't have much money, so we kids looked forward to this one sooo much! Afterwards, we would sometimes stop for ice cream at the local Thrifty Drug Store. Thanks for the walk down memory lane.... come to think of it, I think I'll introduce my hubby to the concept! :) Have a great Sunday!

  2. Thanks for including Hidden Missives on your Sunday Drive. I'm about to leave on my own Sunday drive to photograph another church for my other blog, Arkansas Church.

  3. Wow indeed, my dear LilysGramma!!! Thank you so very much for stopping by. It sounds like you have wonderful memories to recall, and making some new ones with your husband sounds even better. Hey, why not take Lily on a few of those adventures?

  4. You are most welcome, and thanks for being so considerate, my dear Jay!!! I just noticed your new blog when I went to leave you the shout about this post on Blog Catalog. It's wonderful, and I have already added it the list for a future Sites To See, which means that it will also be eventually included here in this series (our Heavenly Father willing, of course).

  5. I remember those drives too. Now we're all inside on our computers just looking at the pictures.

I think I shall change that soon and start taking Sundays completely off!!

I hope you have a great week!!:-)

  6. Reminds me of my childhood too. We did the same thing...all piled into the car for a drive with no particular destination.

  8. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Nancy!!! As for the title for this series, our Heavenly Father gives me things like that all of the time, and sometimes I even listen. Sadly, I was not joking about that as much I would like to be.

  10. Even with the rain of yesterday, I still did a Sunday drive, just not a Sunday hike - which I often do as I drive by a place that might look interesting and need further investigation - go off the beaten path and enjoy a hike - you will see some of God's wonderful creation.

  11. We didn't get as much snow as forecasted last Saturday (03/28), but between here and Kansas City got dumped on pretty good. So, it was not a good day for even a Sunday drive up there, my dear Mike.
