Good, Bad and Ugly Ads

Since I have not been given much of a life, I watch an awful lot of television, which includes an awful lot of commercials.  Now, a “GOOD” ad is one that holds my attention and makes me want to at least learn more about the product or service it is for.  A “BAD” ad is one that quickly becomes nothing more than background noise when it cannot be skipped over.  “UGLY” ads are much worse.  For not only do they make we want to never see them again, they make me want to never have anything to do with the company that paid for them to be produced.  Of course, you may feel differently, but I sure wouldn’t say much about it around anyone with a lick of sense.  For I am, after all, an expert on such things—albeit only in my own mind!

  1. Best thing about subscribing to Netflix is bypassing all the ads. I can't remember the last time I watched enough regular television to pay attention to the ads! Freedom!

  2. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Julie!!! Making it to where we can get Netflix and all of the other wonderful options available online through our TV is a dream of mine, but commercials like that Devondale one is certainly worth watching. Alas, maybe I am addicted to something? Sigh.

  3. I find that the commercials I pay the most attention to are the ones that use humor to convey the message. Ads that try and scare me are quickly dismissed.

  4. It's so funny sometimes I see these for the first time on your post, because if I watch regular TV I usually do something else during the commercial breaks and when we record shows I just sip through the commercials!

  5. Agreed on all ads! That Soy Aftertaste ad was funny, LOL.

  6. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! Yeah, it is the same with me, but some of the "stuff" that is meant to be humorous just plain isn't funny to me. My wife claims that I am getting old and really cranky. Sigh.

  7. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Karen!!! I don't know if Devondale has products to advertise here, but the two commercials I have seen from them on YouTube would be certainly worth backing up the DVR for.

  8. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Angelika!!! I have learned to not make that face around my wife when trying to joke about something she has made. She doesn't think it is so funny. Sigh.

  9. No matter how many times I see the "Soy after-taste" ads...they still make me laugh! They are brilliant! :)

  10. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lee!!! Alas, the price that some are willing to pay in the hope of good health is way too high, but it sure makes for good comedy!

  11. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! Yes, it most certainly is, but Arlynda made a face like that when she discovered just how hard it had made me laugh. Sigh.
