Come Monday...An Ode to Obie

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about,  websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can be good—right?  Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

Our beloved Obie was called home yesterday afternoon to chase squirrels in our Heavenly Father’s Kingdom of Heaven while waiting for our turn to join him there.  No, I cannot say, “Thus saith the Lord,” regarding the certainty of our beloved pets spending all of eternity with us in His Kingdom, but it sure makes a lot of sense to me.  After all, if a lion can lay down with a lamb, how could there not be a place for such a sweet puppy like Obie?

In our home, a dog is only referred to as being a dog when they are in trouble—regardless of how old they may be, and Obie was 14 when he passed quite peacefully while lying in Arlynda’s lap.  Despite our great sorrow, it was actually a blessing.  For he had become completely blind several months ago, and for the last few days, he would throw up within a couple of hours almost everything we tried to feed him.

I am sorry.  That is the best picture I could find of Obie, and I have not tried to do much with Photoshop Elements 9 yet.  That is him on the right, with Trixe being on the left.  No, my mother-in-law does not have as much of a mustache as it would seem from that photo.

Obie was the first of our rescue puppies.  Be assured that they are the ones who have done the rescuing, and we were blessed with Obie’s love for 10 years.

Alas, squirrels were the bane of his existence in this world.  Do you think our Heavenly Father just might allow and enable him to actually catch one now?
