ATF: Lovely Sentiments

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

What About Love

Heart

I've been lonely

I've been waiting for you

I'm pretending

And that's all I can do

The love I'm sending

Ain't making it through

To your heart

You've been hiding

Never letting it show

Always trying

To keep it under control

You got it down

And you're well on the way

To the top

But there's something that you forgot

What about love

Don't you want someone to care about you

What about love

Don't let it slip away

What about love

I only want to share it with you

You might need it some day

I can't tell you

What you're feeling inside

And I can't sell you

What you don't want to buy

Something's missing

And you got to look back

On your life

You know something here just ain't right

What about love

Don't you want someone to care about you

What about love

Don't let it slip away

What about love

I only want to share it with you

What about love

Don't you want someone to care about you

What about love

Don't let it slip away

What about love

I only want to share it with you

Oh no oh

Oh

Oh

What about love

Love

What about love

Love

Love

Love

What about

What about

Love

Love Song

Tesla

So you think that it's over

Say your love has finally reached the end

Anytime you call night or day

I'll be right there for you

If you need a friend yeah

It's gonna take a little time

Time is sure to mend your broken heart

Don't you even worry pretty darlin'

I know you'll find love again

Yeah

Love is all around you

Love is knocking

Outside the door

Waitin' for you

Is this love made just for two

Keep an open heart

And you'll find love again

I know

Love is all around you

Yeah

Love is knocking outside the door

Waitin' for you

Is this love made just for two

Keep an open heart

And you'll find love again

I know

Jump around

Love will find a way

Darlin' love is gonna find a way

Find it's way back to you

Love will find a way

So look around

Open your eyes

Love is gonna find a way

Love is gonna

Love is gonna find a way

Love will find a way

Love's gonna find a way

Back to you yeah

I know

I know

I know

I know

The Everly Brothers vs. Tesla

Okay, we are going to try something different here.  For this [Single Shots] series has been featuring different versions of the same song, parodies and just plain single shots of songs that carry some significance to me in one way or another.  Whereas, these two songs about little Susie/Suzi couldn’t be more different.  For The Everly Brothers is about something that happened during a much more innocent time, which would hardly to get more of a reaction than maybe a raised eyebrow from the respective parents these days.  Whereas, Tesla’s song means to hit you right between the eyes in a number of ways.  Besides, with two different spellings of the same name, these songs may be about two different girls.  Although, Tesla’s might be the daughter of The Everly Brothers’ one.  Yeah, I’ll be shutting up now.

Wake Up Little Susie

The Everly Brothers

Wake up

Little Susie

Wake up
Wake up

Little Susie

Wake up
We’ve both been sound asleep
Wake up little Susie and weep
The movie’s over

It’s four o’clock
And we’re in trouble deep
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie

Well

What’re we gonna tell your mama
What’re we gonna tell your pa
What’re we gonna tell our friends
When they say

Ooh-la-la
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie

Well I told your mama

That you’d be in by ten
Well Susie baby

Looks like we goofed again

Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie
We gotta go home

Wake up

Little Susie

Wake up
Wake up

Little Susie

Wake up
The movie wasn’t so hot
It didn’t have much of a plot
We fell asleep

Our goose is cooked
Our reputation is shot
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie

Well

What’re we gonna tell your mama
What’re we gonna tell your pa
What’re we gonna tell our friends
When they say

Ooh-la-la
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie
Wake up little Susie

Little Suzi

Tesla

Ow

Little Suzi's on the up

Lookin’ for a getaway
Ruby tries to bring her down

She's lookin' for another way
Little Suzi's on the up

Headin' for the spotlights
Ruby finally gets up

Lookin' for some quiet night

And the music

Makes her feel

So hot
Oh and she'll smile

For the camera

With all she's got
Don't bring her down

She's a lot like you
She'll be richer by far

If her dreams come true
Little Suzi's on the up

Little Suzi's on the up

Now suddenly

It's not a game
Ruby's got to give up

‘Cause Suzi's plainly set on pain
Little Suzi's on the up

Cost in cost

Your point is made

Ruby's gonna hang around

To make sure Suzi's okay

And the music

Makes her feel

So hot

Oh and she'll smile

For the camera

With all she's got

Don't bring her down

She's a lot like you
She'll be richer by far

If her dreams come true
Don't you bring her down

She's a lot like you
She'll be richer by far

If her dreams come true
Little Suzi's on the up

And the music

Makes her feel

So hot

Oh and she'll smile

For the camera

With all she's got

Don't you bring her down

She's a lot like you

She'll be richer by far

If her dreams come true

Whoa

Don't you bring her down

She's a lot like you

She'll be richer by far

When her dreams come true

Little Suzi's on the up

Oh yes she is

Ow

Now she's on the up

Little Suzi's on the up
Headin’ for the spotlight

Oh little Suzi

Oh and the music

Makes her feel so hot

Go little Suzi

Yeah

Ohhh

Yeah yeah

Oh yeah

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

What You Give

Tesla

Who's the one

That makes you happy

Or maybe

Who's the one

Always on your mind

And who is the reason

You're livin' for

Who's the reason

For

Your smile

I feel so lonely

Yet I know

I'm not the only one

To ever feel this way

I love ya so much

That I

Think I'm goin' insane

I'm goin' crazy

Outta my head

Goin' crazy

Outta my head

Can't think about nothin'

But your good good love

And what you give

Everyone

Needs somebody

And you know

Everybody

Needs someone

Well and yes it's true

Everybody needs a special kind of love

And you’re the only one I'm thinkin' of

You mean the world to me

You are my only

I feel so lonely

Yet I know

I'm not the only one

To carry on this way

I love ya so much

I lose track of time

Lose track of the days

I'm goin' outta my head

Goin' crazy

Outta my head

Can't think about nothin'

But your good good love

And what you give

It's not whatcha got

It's what you give

It ain't the life you choose

It's the life you live

No no no no no

It's not whatcha got

It's what you give

And it ain't what it's not

But what it is

Only what you give

Only what you give

It's only what you give

It's not whatcha you got

Ah but what you give

It's not whatcha got

It’s what you give

And what you give woman

It's ain't the life you choose

It's the life you live

It's only what you give

Only what you give

It’s only what you give

It's not whatcha got

But what you give

What you give

It’s only what you give

It’s only what you give

Yeah yeah yeah

It’s only what you give

You give

You give

You give

It’s only what you give

It’s only what you give

Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

Is that good enough for the girls

We run around with

I do believe so

Ohh ooh

Uh-huh
