Los Lobos vs. Weird Al Yankovic

La Bamba
Los Lobos
Para bailar
La bamba
Para bailar
La bamba
Se necesita una poca de gracia
Una poca de gracia para ma para
Ta y arriba y arriba
Y arriba y arribe
Por ta sera
Por ta sera
Por ta sera
Yo no soy marinero
Yo no soy mariner
Soy capitan
Soy capitan
Soy capitan

Bam-ba bamba
Bam-ba bamba
Bam-ba bamba

Para bailar
La bamba
Para bailar
La bamba
Se necesita una poca de gracia
Una poca de gracia para ma para
Ta y arriba y arriba

Para bailar
La bamba
Para bailar
La bamba
Se necesita una poca de gracia
Una poca de gracia para ma para
Ta y arriba y arriba
Y arriba y arribe
Por ta sera
Por ta sera
Por ta sera

Bam-ba bamba
Bam-ba bamba
Bam-ba bamba
Bam-ba bamba

Lasagna
Weird Al Yankovic
La-la-la-la
Lasagna
You want-a some-a
Lasagna
Magnifico
Or-a maybe spaghetti
Ai you supper’s a-ready
Now where you go
Mama mia
Bambino
Mama mia
Bambino
Samatta you
Samatta you
Samatta you

You should a-taste
My lasagna
Ai
You no like-a lasagna
That’s okay too
How about-a calzone
Some-a nice minestrone
It’s-a good for you
Have-a some marinara
Have-a some marinara
I know-a you like
I know-a you like
I know-a you like

La-la-lasagna
La-la-lasagna
La-la-lasagna

Would you like some-a zucchini
Or-a my homemade linguini
It’s-a hard to beat
Have-a more fettuccini
Ai you getting too skinny
You gotta to eat
Ai mange mange

Ai you-a pass the lasagna
Ai don’t you get any on ya
You sloppy pig
Have-a more ravioli
You-a get roly-poly
A-nice and a-big
Like your cousin Luigi…

  1. Hmmm getting better. La Bamba is OK. However I suspect it is frowned upon in the US as typical Hispanic immigrant music....
Not that I am cynical or that.

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! Well, the Los Lobos version was released in 1987 (I think), and it immediately became wildly popular. Of course, that could just mean that the fanatics are more right about us being overrun than the rest of us would like to believe...

  3. Why did you not use the original recording by Ritchie Valens?

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! I thought about it, and I probably should have. Nonetheless, the Los Lobos cover truly is very good.

I went to see the movie, La Bamba, in a theater while I was out on the truck back in the spring of 1988, and it tore me up for a number of reasons. A couple of days later, I was involved in the fatal traffic accident that is mentioned in The Crackerhead Chronicles.
