TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Sometimes Love Just Ain’t Enough
Patty Smyth (with Don Henley)

I don’t wanna lose you
But I don’t wanna use you
Just to have somebody by my side
And I don’t wanna hate you
I don’t wanna take
But I don’t wanna be the one to cry
That don’t really matter
To anyone
Anymore
But like a fool
I keep losing my place
And I keep seeing you walk through that door

But there’s a danger
In loving somebody too much
And it’s sad when you know
It’s your heart you can’t trust
There’s a reason why people
Don’t stay where they are
Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough

Now I could never change you
But I don’t wanna blame you
Baby you don’t have to take the fall
Yes I may have hurt you
But I did not desert you
Maybe I just want to have it all
It makes a sound like thunder
It makes me feel like rain
And like a fool
Who will never see the truth
I keep thinking something’s gonna change

But there’s a danger
In loving somebody too much
And it’s sad when you know
It’s your heart you can’t trust
There’s a reason why people
Don’t stay where they are
Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough

And there’s no way home
When it’s late at night
And you’re all alone
Are there things
That you wanted to say
Do you feel me beside you
In your bed
There beside you
Where I used to lay

And there’s a danger
In loving somebody too much
And it’s sad when you know
It’s your heart they can’t touch
There’s a reason why people
Don’t stay who they are
Baby sometimes love just ain’t enough
Baby sometimes love
Just ain’t enough
Oh ohahh
Oh ohahh
No

No Mistakes
Patty Smyth

The summer is gone
I can’t believe
It went so fast
Why do only the cold
And lonely times
Seem to last
Now it’s late at night
I watch you sleepin’
I wanna wake you up
And tell you I’m sorry
Though I know
I can’t make it up

I made my mistakes
Now baby
But I did the best I could
It takes what it takes
And sometimes
It takes longer than it should
To just live the kind of life that we both
Have been dreaming of
There are no mistakes
In love

I walk through a fire in my dreams
Just to pull you through
But when I’m awake
Somehow it seems
I’m just so hard on you
Baby a change has got to come
And I can’t see
After another winter’s gone
Well who’s gonna rescue me

There are no mistakes
Now baby
We did the best we could
It takes what it takes
And sometimes
It takes much more time than it should
To just to make the choices that we both
Have been dreaming of
There are no mistakes
In love

The nights are much colder now
And I feel the need to have you near
Maybe we could start all over
I feel a change in the air

There are no mistakes
Now baby
We do the best we can
Just takes what it takes
And sometimes
It’s so hard to understand
And just take the changes that we all
Have been dreaming of
There are no mistakes
In love
There are no mistakes
In love
Oh
There are no mistakes
In love

I feel a change in the air

I feel a change

It’s got to come

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Coleen!!! The first time I can remember ever hearing that first song was while I was still driving a truck cross-country. I was around half-way between Jonesboro, AR and where US 63 joins up with I-55 listening to a classic rock station out of Memphis, TN, and I had to pull the truck over onto the shoulder of the road. For it was like salt was being ground into what remained of my heart, which had been torn all asunder far too many times in my most humble opinion.

The moral of the story? Only love that is truly of our Heavenly Father is meant to last, and when a relationship has that, nothing else is needed for it to survive all that we are meant to endure in this world.

  6. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Dubster!!! As with Ann, I am really glad you liked it. Patty Smyth will be here again with Scandal next week. That is, unless our Heavenly Father has other plans, of course.

~To expect another to believe in you, when you do not first believe in yourself is like putting the cart before the horse~

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Dorothy!!! I plan on having a TWO FOR TUESDAY with a couple of his songs down the road. Be assured that "The Boys of Summer" will be one of them. By the way, it shocked me how much the one who sang back-up on "No Mistakes" sounded like him.
