ATF: Touchy/Feely

This series will include as many of my all-time favorite (ATF) tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way your musical tastes could be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions you might dare to make.  For I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Touch Me in the Morning
Diana Ross
Touch me in the morning
Then just walk away
We don't have tomorrow
But we had yesterday

Hey
Wasn't it me who said
That nothing good's gonna last forever
And wasn't it me who said
Let's just be glad for the time together
It must've been hard to tell me
That you've given all you had to give
I can understand you're feeling that way
Everybody's got their life to live

Well I can say good-bye
In the cold morning light
But I can't watch love die
In the warmth of the night

If I've got to be strong
Don't you know I need to
Have tonight when you're gone
'Til you go I need to lie here
And think about
The last time that you'll

Touch me in the morning
Then just close the door
Leave me as you found me
Empty like before

Hey
Wasn't it yesterday
We used to laugh at the wind behind us
Didn't we run away
And hope that time wouldn't try to find us
Didn't we run
Didn't we take each other
To a place where no one's ever been
Yeah I really need you near me tonight
'Cause you'll never take me there again

Let me watch you go
With the sun in my eyes
We've seen how love can grow
Now we'll see how it dies

If I've got to be strong
Don't you know I need to
Have tonight when you're gone
'Til you go I need to
Hold you
Until the time
Your hands reach out and

Touch me in the morning
Mornings where blue and gold
And we could feel one another living
Then just walk away
We walked with a dream to hold
And we could take what the world was giving
We don't have tomorrow,
There's no tomorrow here
There's only love
And the time to chase it
But we had yesterday
But yesterday's gone my love
There's only now
And it's time to face it
Touch me in the morning...

  1. I don't know why but I never cared much for instrumentals. I guess I always preferred to hear someone singing. The Diana Ross song is one I know well. Good song

  2. I have a problem with Diana Ross as a person, from what I've read, but there's no doubt about her singing ability.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Stephen!!! I do not remember hearing much about her character from years past. I suspect that she tried to make a man out of Michael Jackson very early on, which obviously failed.

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Margaret!!! Since he was wrestling with one of his grandsons when Arlynda called his wife to wish him a happy birthday 6-7 hours earlier, I think he had a pretty good day. I greatly upset him around 14 years ago, and we have not actually spoke to each other since. We keep up with how it is going with him and his family through his wife, though. I hope he is interested in how it is going with us, too. It is out of respect for his feelings (and fear of doing further damage) that I do not press the matter.

  6. I haven't heard "Touch me in the Morning" in a long time, and it's such a powerful song! Diana Ross' daughter stars on the TV show Blackish and I wish she would make a guest appearance. Thanks for featuring me last week, Jerry. I'm sorry I didn't stop by sooner. Happy belated birthday to your brother, and Happy Holidays!

    1. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Julie!!! We tried watching Blackish a couple of times because of its great cast, but we took the show as being way too simplistically silly (instead of simply being funny) for our tastes. Thank you also for the good wishes. I hope you-all have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
