Until There is Not

When it dawned upon me that our Heavenly Father had done something rather clever, I just had to let out a chuckle, which I consider to be absolutely amazing (in and of itself).  For I was still on a table in the emergency room of one of our hospital complexes at the time, and it had been taking all of the strength I had left to keep from letting out the blood-curdling scream that had been steadily building in intensity in my throat for several hours beforehand.

You see, the last thing that I had published online was my [The Mag] entry for this week, and it was the very last line ot it that our Heavenly Father quoted to me.

There is Always Time
Jerry E. Beuterbaugh
There is always time
To be born
To be born-again
To start a new life
To start a new career
To turn the page
To turn the corner
To start a new chapter
To laugh
To love
To be happy
To be healthy
To dream big dreams
To accomplish great goals
To reach for the stars
To chase after the sun
To romp in tall grasses
To wrestle squirrels for nuts
To ride fast horses
To drive faster cars
To sail mighty oceans
To climb high mountains
To seize the day
To do the right thing
To fight the good fight
To be all that you want to be
Yes
There is always time
Until there is not

To fill in a few blanks, Him quoting that line of poetry to me came while I was thinking of what a fantastic article this trip to a hospital emergency room would make.  For there were some questions circling inside of my head about all of major projects That have been put on the shelf in the hope of bringing  a little sunshine into your morbid lives.  Since it has taken well over three hours to place what I have so far about this into written form, it looks like I won’t be actually dying anytime really soon, but I sure wish I could more than ever.

Anyway, I have been instructed to stop publishing the stuff that I have been until the important things have been taken care of.  I am also to leave the comments along with checking to see if any legitimate ones need publishing and responded to a few times each week.  I will try to stop by and leave a comment on your stuff when I can.  Be assured that I am going to miss this.

  1. Sometimes, it is scary to think that there is always time because procrastinators, like me, could just go on postponing anything until they find too late that there is no more. However, I like the cheerful tone of your poem and the exhortation that I get from it to do what one has to do while time is available because suddenly it may be not.

  2. I thought about your health last night as I was aware of a gap in the posting. At least you are in good hands. Don't feel the need to do anything until you need/wish to. But you are not dying yet? Ah well! :)

  9. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! I would ask you send bacon, but since I have not been able to keep anything on my stomach for more than 30 minutes for several days, I sure don't want to be watching her eat bacon!

  11. Jerry...this saddens me. Do all that you can and accept all that you can from those who are able to help you in getting well...real soon.

Have the important things attended to and taken care of. You can guarantee you are and will be in my thoughts.

And be assured we are going to miss your regular posts...but that is not what is of the most importance at this point in time...you getting better is!

    Hugs. :)

  18. Oh! Just so you know, if it matters, I am always stopping by your blog and reading/enjoying what you've posted. I don't know why I don't comment more...I guess it's because I figure there is always time to get to that and then, well, you know the rest of that story. 21. Jerry - no need to publish this comment but felt I had to contact you. I have stumbled upon your blog in an attempt to learn anything about my favorite teacher of all time - Mrs. Redding. I had assumed she had passed but was thrilled to find that you had written something a few years back about the unique structure of our grade school class where a student was able to be promoted within class on various subject in which one excelled. In addition, she had some students tutor the younger students which reinforced what had been learned. Over the years I have tried to relay stories to family and friends about what I believe was the most wonderful years of my education. I attributed it to the small (understatement) class size and Mrs. Redding and wonder if we aren't missing the big picture with our current education system. I doubt that we crossed paths as I was a few years older than you and my family moved to Kansas City when I was starting 5th grade. I also just this weekend told a family member about Ruby (I think that was her name), the cook that prepared the best meals from scratch for breakfast and lunch all for about 50 cents a week.

I am sorry to hear you are ill and wish you you well. Enjoyed reading a few of your posts.

  22. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Anonymous!!! No, it was not that Mrs. Reading and Mrs. Reaser wanted to promote me in just reading--they wanted to promote me a couple of years ahead in all subjects. I am fairly sure that this still happens. For reports of some kid graduating college before they would normally graduate from high school comes around every so often. Oh, and Mrs. Reading would have to be knocking on 100 years-old by now, if she is still alive. I do not remember much about the school lunches served at Shell Knob at the time, but I am fairly sure they were fine dining fare in comparison to the institutionalized "stuff" being served these days in more of our public schools.

  26. God post brother Jerry.
Remember that ALL who came to JESUS were healed, and not one went away sick.
Is there anything Jesus can't do?
    Your brother Paul.

  27. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Paul!!! So, are you claiming that Paul and the rest of the apostles never really came to Christ Jesus? For it is written: And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you. {2 Corinthians 2:3-4:12 NIV}

  28. Good to learn that things are on the up and up with you, Jerry. I'm sure I speak for the rest of us...it will be good to have you back on board :)

  29. Jerry, I'm not sure whether I understand you correctly and visa versa. Perhaps a misunderstanding on my behalf :-)

The passages you have quoted does not say that Paul and the Apostles were suffering sickness or disease, and if they did, they surely would have gone to Jesus and he would have healed them instantly, just like I said in my previous comment.
Paul and the Apostles and many of us are suffering persecution, torture and even death, but all that is done willingly for Christ's sake and they received the martyrs crown.
But sickness and disease is the punishment for our sins and it is no glory to our Lord Jesus Christ.
The glory of the Lord is when you and I are miraculously healed on the spot, and hopefully in front of their unbelieving eyes.
But for that is mostly a condition attached. First we must come to the Lord Jesus and believe that He is capable and willing to perform a instant miracle on us whether healing a sickness or whatever and I don't mean a natural slow healing.
    Paul

  32. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Paul!!! Why wasn't Timothy able to just to take it before Jesus so that his illnesses would be instantly healed? For it is written: Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. {1 Timothy 5:23 NIV}
