The Mag 188

It Is Said
It is said
That there are stones
That mark well the path
To both Heaven
And to Hell
Good intentions
Notwithstanding
It is also said
That no one
Will be left behind
However
Nothing should be taken
Too much for granted
For being left behind
Would be preferable
To going to Hell
Voices in my head
Coming from hearts
That love me
And hate me
It is really hard to tell
Which one is which
At times
For I hear what I want to hear
Sometimes not
Maybe I should start listening
For a change
Maybe not
For it is
After all
Another step to take
Nonetheless
Nothing needs to be
Settled today
For when one is going around
In circles
Everything
Always
Comes back around
Until it stops
And it will stop
Much sooner
Than later
For us all
It is said

  1. I love how this reads like a free association that is conversational in its tone ... and how the placement of short lines and longer lines guides that conversational flow, like one is going from stepping stone to stepping stone ... good write this week!

  9. being left behind would be preferable to hell although would that just leave you in your own personal hell on earth?
    Excellent piece

  10. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Ann!!! I suppose it could, but since this world will be utterly destroyed someday, all souls not in Heaven or Hell would be utterly destroyed along with it. Of course, ceasing to existence would most definitely be preferable to being tormented in Hell for all of eternity to me.

To be quite honest about it, I have my doubts about the wickedness actually being tormented for all of eternity. For the absolute horror of seeing what they refused to believe before should be enough to appease our Heavenly Father's wrath toward them, along casting them into the Lake of Fire, which is when they would simply cease to exist. In any event, there will not be any from among the wicked, who will be saying, "Hey, this is really not so bad," come Judgment Day.

  12. As Kathe W. said, a path of words. Nicely laid out with each word in place like a stepping stone.

  13. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Linda!!! Ah, if only I was better at following the path laid out before me. Take the title of this piece for an example. For it started out as "Stepping Stones," but I changed it because of thinking that several others would also use the title. Um, guess what? Out of the 50-some submissions so far this week, I have not run across one with the title of, "Stepping Stones," yet! Sigh.

  14. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Lyn!!! I don't know how I managed to do it, but it would seem that I neglected to leave a reply to your comment before. Be assured that I greatly appreciate you taking the time to leave comments, and I'll go put my nose in the corner until I can come up with how the mess up was not my fault. I have had a lot of practice with that. So, I should be back in no more than an hour or so.

  15. It is said, and you've done it very well! Check out my comment back to you or you could try this link. It's what inspired me on my Magpie, as he's one of my favorite acts at the Renn-Fest!

  16. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Karen!!! It was rather hard for me to hear all that much of his act, but it was certainly made clear that a very good time was being had by all in attendance.

  17. Keep moving--direction counts!

I don't believe that souls can cease to exist. There will be places for everyone, and most will be pleasantly surprised...

  18. This really works. Even the poem feels circular.

  19. Thanks for stopping by, my dear ~T~!!! You are most definitely not alone in that belief, but if it is indeed true, then why were we created as we naturally are to live in this world for as long as we have had to?

  20. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Sue!!! Be assured that I spend much of the time being dizzy. (LOL?)

  22. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Anna!!! To be quite honest about it, I considered this one to be merely adequate (at best). Alas, I really do need to pay closer attention to what is going on in and through me.

  24. This was fluid and easy to read. Like thoughts in perpetual motion, which is pretty much how my head works a lot of the time. Good read!

    come full circle..

  29. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Truedessa!!! Alas, I never did perfect waltzing. For I always wanted to Texas Two-Step, which I found to not work very well.
