The Animals vs. Frijid Pink

 Link: [The Animals]

House of the Rising Sun
The Animals
There is
A house
In New Orleans
They call
The Rising Sun
And it’s been
The ruin
Of many a poor boy
And God
I know
I’m one

My mother was
A tailor
She sewed
My new blue jeans
My father was
A gamblin’ man
Down in
New Orleans

Now the only thing
A gambler needs
Is a suitcase and
A trunk
And the only time
He’s satisfied
Is when
He’s on
A drunk

Oh mother
Tell your children
Not to do
What I have done
To spend your lives
In sin and misery
In the house
Of the
Rising Sun

Well I got one foot
On the platform
The other foot on
The train
I’m going back
To New Orleans
To wear
That ball
And chain

Well there is
A house
In New Orleans
They call
The Rising Sun
And it’s been
The ruin
Of many a poor boy
And God
I know
I’m one

  2. The Frijid Pink version was not bad - I like the guitar work on it but this song seems to require a "rougher" voice...(and these guys seem a bit spastic in their movements - hard to watch). I think I have now had my fill of this song...

  3. "A bit spastic" Grace? Most likely the drugs....

  4. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Adullamite!!! Even though I still like The Animals' version better, Frijid Pink's is awesome!

  5. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Sandie!!! They are hard to beat--aren't they?

  6. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Well, the driving bass line on the Frijid Pink version causes my eyes to vibrate, and this is what might have happened to you, as well. For when you watch the video without sound, they are all just standing there looking into the camera.

  7. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ryan!!! Was it bizarro day again, and I didn't get the memo? For I fully expected Adullamite to absolutely hate Frijid Pink's version, and here you are manning the wall between sanity and the pride of the Scots!

  8. Umm - No - look at that video again - starting at around 00.50 - these guys look like they are seriously drunk, or high. It was the guitar that started at 00:20 that I liked.

  9. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Grace!!! Well, I had to try. By the way, my eyes are still vibrating, which is actually pretty cool!

  10. I've never even heard of Frijid Pink so I'm not even going to give them a change. The animals get my vote on a very good song :)
