TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Life’s Been Good
Joe Walsh
I have a mansion
Forget the price
Ain’t never been there
They tell me it’s nice
I live in hotels
Tear out the walls
I have accountants
Pay for it all

They say I’m crazy
But I have a good time
I’m just looking for clues
At the scene of the crime
Life’s been good to me so far

My Maserati does 185
I lost my license
Now I don’t drive
I have a limo
Ride in the back
I lock the doors
In case I’m attacked
I make hit records
My fans they can’t wait
They write me letters
Tell me I’m great
So I got me an office
Gold records on the wall
Just leave a message
Maybe I’ll call

Lucky I’m sane
After all I’ve been through
Everybody says
Yeah I’m cool
He’s cool
I can’t complain
But sometimes I still do
Life’s been good to me so far

I go to parties
Sometimes until four
It’s hard to leave
When you can’t find the door
It’s tough to handle
This fortune and fame
Everybody’s so different
I haven’t changed

They say I’m lazy
But it takes all my time
Everybody says
Oh yeah
Oh yeah
I keep on going
Guess I’ll never know why
Life’s been good to me so far

Yeah yeah yeah

Meadows
Joe Walsh
Can’t think of any reason
Don’t know exactly why
Must be it’s out of season
Give it another try

I’m out here in the meadow
Part of an old stone wall
Stand here because he said so
Waitin’ around to fall

Yeah

Some things are left unspoken
Some things are hand me down
The circle stands unbroken
Sendin’ it back around

I’ve seen you roll in clover
Dressed for a scarecrow wall
Too bad the dance is over
Nothin’ to show at all

Can’t help but feel uncertain
Knowing which way to turn
They want to raise the curtain
And you’re holdin’ the words to learn

I’m out here in the meadow
Part of an old stone wall
Stand here because he said so
Waitin’ around to fall

  1. I know the first song well the second one not so much. I'm sure I've heard it but just don't really remember it.

  2. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! "Meadows" came out in the 70's, and that opening fit cracks me up each and every time I hear it.

  7. What wonderful memories...thanks again. When I first heard "Life's Been Good," I thought it was one of the funniest songs in a long time.

  8. Thanks for stopping by again, my dear Coleen!!! It was actually the acoustical guitar riff that first caught my attention, and then the lyrics sealed the deal--especially, "My Maserati does 185. I lost my license, now I don't drive."
