Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Desperado
The Eagles
Desperado
Why don’t you come to your senses
You’ve been out ridin’ fences
For so long now
Oh you’re a hard one
I know that
You’ve got your reasons
These things that are pleasin’ you
Will hurt you somehow
Don’t you draw the queen of diamonds boy
She’ll beat you if she’s able
You know the queen of hearts
Is always your best bet
Now it seems to me
Some fine things
Have been laid upon your table
But you only want the ones
That you can’t get
Desperado
Oh you ain’t getting’ no younger
Your pain and your hunger
They’re drivin’ you home
And freedom
Oh freedom
Well that’s just some people talkin’
Your prison is walkin’ through
This world all alone
Don’t your feet get cold in the winter time
The sky won’t snow
And the sun won’t shine
It’s hard to tell the night time
From the day
You’re losin’ all your highs and lows
Ain’t it funny how the feelin’ goes
Away
Desperado
Why don’t you come to your senses
Come down from your fences
Open the gate
It may be rainin’
But there’s a rainbow above you
You better let somebody love you
Let somebody love you
You better let somebody love you
Before it’s too
Late

Life In The Fast Lane
The Eagles
He was a hard-headed man
He was brutally handsome
And she was terminally pretty
She held him up
And he held her for ransom
In the heart
Of the cold cold city
He had a nasty reputation as a cruel dude
They said he was ruthless
They said he was crude
They had one thing in common
They were good in bed
She’d say
Faster faster
The lights are turnin’ red
Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Eager for action
And hot for the game
The coming attraction
The drop of a name
They knew all the right people
They took all the right pills
They threw outrageous parties
They paid heavenly bills
There were lines on the mirror
Lines on her face
She pretended not to notice
She was caught up in the race
Out every evening
Until it was light
He was too tired to make it
She was too tired to fight about it
Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Yeah
Life in the fast lane
Everything
All the time
Life in the fast lane
Uh huh
Blowin’ and burnin’
Blinded by thirst
They didn’t see the stop sign
Took a turn for the worse
She said
Listen baby
You can hear the engine ring
We’ve been up and down this highway
Haven’t seen a g%$ d@*# thing
He said
Call the doctor
I think I’m gonna crash
The doctor say he’s comin’
But you gotta pay him cash
They went rushin’ down that freeway
Messed around and got lost
They didn’t know they were
Just dyin’ to get off
And it was
Life in the fast lane
Surely make you lose your mind
Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane
Everything
All the time
Life in the fast lane
Uh huh
Life in the fast lane
Life in the fast lane

excellent choice!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear David!!! I couldn't believe how much trouble I had finding videos for The Eagles. For almost every video listed as being by them on YouTube was actually just a cover, and what ones were the real deal were unembeddable. Anyway, I am really glad you liked this.
ReplyDeleteHi FishHawk, the Eagles, never forget, are part of the past years that do not return, unfortunately, but the music returns with a roar;)
ReplyDeleteI tried an alternative site to YouTube, try Nartube dot net
maybe there is something interesting for you, David
Thanks for telling me about NarTube, my dear David! I just check it out, and I found a whole bunch of The Eagles videos there.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, they are still together, and they just came out with a new album not very long ago. Granted, they may not be as active as they once were, but they are still touring. In fact, they opened the new arena on the campus of Missouri State here in Springfield a couple of years ago with a concert to a full house.
I know I'll be chopped up and fed to the lions here but....I've never liked the eagles much, OK I'm off
ReplyDeleteIt 'nice to know that I can still sing and even to their of "singers" were born in these years, that the melody does not even know what it is. David
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Eagles. Desperado was a song that I used to listen to over and over. So many good songs came from them. You just made my day with this post.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the Eagles and this is one of my favorite songs. Great post!
ReplyDeleteJane
I am absolutely aghast, my dear Ryan. How could you not love The Eagles? For over the years, their songs have spanned almost the complete spectrum of musical genres--from country to down & dirty blues to hard rock! Okay, I still really appreciate you stopping by again. Thanks!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, much was lost in translation on that one, my dear David. However, I believe I understand what you were trying to say, and if it was that it is good that singers that old can still put out music that is pleasing to younger generations, I fully agree with you. Thanks for stopping by again!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Ann!!! You and Duke need to go have a talk with Ryan. (LOL?)
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Jane!!! With you making such a hard push to earn your doctorate, do you feel a little like you are living in the fast lane?
ReplyDeleteI like Desperados - you may forget the past - but the son remembers when. Sandie
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by again, my dear Sandie!!! Be assured that "Desperado" has a lot of very personal significance to me.
