Not So Great.....................

As I have mentioned a time or two in the past, I have been made oh so painfully aware of the fact that I am as technically-challenged as a person can be. Therefore, you have probably been well aware of this since soon after it first started, but it has taken me a lot longer to realize that when I get a comment that goes something like, “Great…………..,” it is not so great. For those periods are actually a link to something that you might not want associated with your blog.

In my first case, it was a comment left on the very first post in line on [FishHawk Droppings], which is the one that gives details about Google Docs and Bible Gateway links. Since it was not left by the infamous Anonymous and appeared to be anything but a compliment, I left it up for several weeks. In fact, I even thanked MM for leaving it! Then, I “just so happened” to move my mouse pointer (or cursor) over the line of periods (or dots) one day, and lo and behold, an underline appeared under those periods. Yep, it was indeed an indication of them actually being a link, and when I clicked on it, up came a Chinese porn site.

Since then, I have noticed several of these innocent looking comments popping up all over the place, and Anonymous has gotten with the program. Of course, it is bad enough that these are often to porn sites, but what makes it even more despicable is that many of the girls who are featured on their opening pages look like they have not reached puberty yet—let alone legal age.

Woe be it unto those who are exploiting those extremely young girls. Granted, our Heavenly Father’s grace covers even that, but one must still live with the torment of having done something that awful after they have been brought into their right-mind. No, it is not really fair in our way of thinking, but be assured that it will be as it should be in the end.

WhiteHeart Wednesday

MP3 Audio From: [BlogDumps Video]

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Christian
WhiteHeart
Yeah
Yeah

You wear a Sunday suit and tie
Everybody thinks you’re such a guy
Climbin’ up the American dream
Got the whole world on a golden string

You got the glow
A shiny face
Respectable man with holy taste
You got that family pew reserved
When the hymns are sung your voice is heard

But late one night you got your plan
You’d be religious on demand

Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian
It’s a mask you wear to hide
You got a notion
God’s a potion
And it works most every time
Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian

Experimented with your lies
Just to get a bigger piece of pie
I really think you do believe
Yet you use religion to deceive

So when it’s time for you know who
You feel the change come over you

Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian
It’s a mask you wear to hide
You got a notion
God’s a potion
And it works most every time

Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian
What is faith
What is a lie
Don’t you know that
Can’t you see that
God is not your alibi

Now when the change comes over you
There’s almost nothing you can do

Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian
It’s a mask you wear to hide
You got a notion
God’s a potion
And it works most every time

Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian
What is faith
What is a lie
Don’t you know that
Can’t you see that
God is not your alibi

Dr. Jekyll
Mr. Christian
It’s a mask you wear to hide
You got a notion
God’s a potion
And it works most every time

God is not your alibi
Is not your alibi
God is not your alibi
God is not your alibi

TWO FOR TUESDAY {REDO}

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

In The Ghetto
Elvis Presley

As the snow flies

On a cold and gray Chicago mornin’
A poor little baby child is born
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

And his mama cries

‘Cause if there’s one thing that she don’t need
It’s another hungry mouth to feed
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

People
Don’t you understand
The child needs a helpin’ hand
Or he’ll grow to be an angry young man some day
Take a look at you and me
Are we too blind to see
Do we simply turn our heads
And look the other way

Well the world turns

And a hungry little boy with a runny nose
Plays in the street as the cold wind blows
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

And his hunger burns

So he starts to roam the streets at night
And he learns how to steal
And he learns how to fight
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

Then one night in desperation
The young man breaks away
He buys a gun
Steals a car
Tries to run
But he don’t get far
And his mama cries

As a crowd gathers ‘round an angry young man
Face down on the street with a gun in his hand
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

As her young man dies
In the ghetto

On a cold and gray Chicago mornin’
Another little baby child is born
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

And his mama cries
In the ghetto
In the ghetto

Suspicious Minds
Elvis Presley

We’re caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can’t you see
What you’re doin’ to me
When you don’t believe a word I say

We can’t go on together
With suspicious minds
Suspicious minds
And we can’t build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes

Here we go again
Askin’ where I’ve been
You can’t see the tears are real I’m cryin’
Tears I’m cryin’

We can’t go on together
With suspicious minds
Suspicious minds
And we can’t build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh let our love survive
I’ll dry the tears from your eyes
Let’s don’t let a good thing die
When honey
You know I’ve never
Lied to you
Mmm
Yeah
Yeah

We’re caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can’t you see
What you’re doin’ to me
When you don’t believe a word I say

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap
I can’t walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Don’t you know I’m
Caught in a trap

Come Monday...Unbeaten Missori State

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about, websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time. Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.” This is subject to change, however. In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while. For rants promote change, and change can be good—right? Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

Last Saturday (12/12), the Missori State Bears traveled down to [Jonesboro, AR] and defeated the [Arkansas State Red Wolves] 75-64 in a men’s basketball game to [remain unbeaten] so far this season. Of course, it was actually the [Missouri State Bears] from [Springfield, MO] who made the trip, but you sure couldn’t tell it from their road uniforms. For Missouri was spelled Missori.

Aside from the obvious being how it was possible for a university to take possession of uniforms with its name misspelled, a question about just how many uniforms the mens basketball team has also came to mind. After all, since there was no mention of the name being misspelled on their uniforms when they went down to [Little Rock, AR] and beat [Arkansas-Little Rock (UALR)] 75-62 December 2nd, I assumed that they had more than one set of road uniforms, which does make some sense. For if a team takes off on a long road trip that includes several different games, it might become problematic to secure a facility to get their uniforms washed before each game. There is also the possibility of a uniform getting torn, or even swiped by some overly-enthusiastically co-ed (I hope) during a post-game celebration and/or consolation.

Nonetheless, while musing about all of that, the [University of Oregon Ducks] football team came charging through to send the peace I had made with Missouri State having more than one set of road uniforms diving for cover. For they have sported no less than [five different color combinations] just this season alone, and all of these cost a fair amount of money—right? I mean, with our education institutions supposedly being so underfunded, how can they afford to purchase so many different uniforms sets (complete with matching helmets, of course)?

Okay, maybe I am missing something. For it may very well be that the revenue generated from licensing fees for replica jerseys more than pay for the real ones, but…

Still (and somewhat on the same subject), how can [Brentwood High School] justify traveling down to [Clever, MO] to play the [Blue Jays] in a boy’s high school basketball game last week? You see, [Brentwood, MO] is located in the western suburbs of [St. Louis, MO], which is around 200 miles northwest of Clever and had to cost a pretty penny or two to bus, feed and whatever the team after it was all said and done.

Now, I can see where traveling a long distance to play in a prestigious tournament could be of great benefit to all concerned. For that would give the players some exposure to college scouts, and put the town where the school is located on the map (so to speak) to those who were not already familiar with it. In fact, [Bass Pro Shops] sponsors the really big-time boys basketball [Tournament of Champions] here in Springfield, and this years (January 14-16, 2010) field will have the [Alpharetta (GA) Milton Eagles], [St. Louis (MO) Chaminade Flyers], [Weston (FL) Sagemont Lions], [Charlotte (NC) United Faith Christian Academy Falcons], [Memphis (TN) White Station Spartans] and [Middle Village (NY) Christ the King Royals], along with two Springfield schools, which are the [Hillcrest Hornets] and the [Kickapoo Chiefs].

However, the Brentwood Eagles traveling around 200 miles to play the Clever Blue Jays in a regular game is not even close to being anything big-time, but it does help to provide an answer when my wife starts screaming about what the schools are doing with all of the money every time she hears about another possible property tax hike before the ink has dried on the last one that was passed. So, I suppose I should be more thankful that Brentwood scheduled the game.

Please, do not get me wrong. I am a big supporter of both high school and college athletics. For I get it that a winning program makes the skies bluer and the food taste so much better for everyone around, but some common-sense must apply somewhere. Of course, since that was dropped from most curriculums some years back, we may be seeing just beginning of the idiocy.

A Sunday Drive

Back during my childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and I after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived. Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a weekly series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again. The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.
