Come Monday...Some People

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about, websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time. Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.” This is subject to change, however. In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while. For rants promote change, and change can be good—right? Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

February 8, 2008 was the first time I published a [Sites To See]. Since then, around 3,653 sites have been featured so far. Yeah, one would think that I could come up with an exact total, but math really is hard.

Anyway, after getting ripped to shreds by one of the six who did not want their site promoted by the likes of me, I got to thinking about how few I usually do hear from. Granted, most are very positive, but only about 30% have taken the time to simply say, “Thanks!”

No, I cannot give an exact number for that, neither. For I was advised against it, and after what happened to [King David], I figured that it might be wise to not keep a count.

Nonetheless, it troubles me greatly that there are so many who make no effort to form relationships out here in cyberspace. For that is one of my primary objectives, and I would think that especially those with some sort of a personal blog would also be after that.

Yet, I keep leaving comments that go ignored. Is it just me, or are these people interested in nothing more than just telling the world what they think about this or that?

In some cases, I have wandered across sites that are meant for just a chosen few. I know this to be true because I have been told as much by the authors after making enough of a pest out of myself. So, why have these sites not been made private?

Yeah, it is said that it takes all kinds to make a world, but I think we could do without more than a few. Of course, I might be included on some of those lists, but that just goes to prove that some people are really stupid. (Right?)

P.S.: I have started a new site by the name of, [The Tribulation Times Herald-Exhorter]. It is still in the building stage, but if you would like to become a full-fledged member or maybe just a contributor, please email me at FishHawk7@gmail.com.

Despite the implications of the name, this site is not meant to be just about the possibility of us being in the end times. For it has been personally revealed to me that every day in this world is one of tribulation. In fact, even what we would naturally consider to be the best of lives is absolutely miserable in comparison to the worst of lives in our Heavenly Father’s Kingdom of Heaven.

Therefore, I hope to have articles on politics (both secular and religious), business practices, social issues, environmental concerns, as well as spiritual matters—not just from a strictly “Christian” perspective, neither. For the more closely we examine what we may think is the truth, the closer we can come to accept what our Heavenly Father actually says is absolutely true. For He will be there to counter what is not right. Ah, but who is so deaf as the one who does not want to hear?

A Sunday Drive

Back during my childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and me after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived.  Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a weekly series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again.  The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.

Laodecia Repost

The following is another chapter from [Bittersweet Refinements].  Since each part is connected to the rest, it would do you well to keep reading (and listening for our Heavenly Father's explanations, of course).

Laodicea

"To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says this: 'I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot; I wish that you were cold or hot.  'So because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of My mouth.  'Because you say, "I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing," and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked, I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and {that} the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.  'Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.  'Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.  'He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.  'He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.'" [Revelation 3:14-22 NAS]

Yes, there really was a church in Laodicea.  What is left of the ancient city after series earthquakes devasted it over a period of several hundred years can be found in the southeastern part of what is now the nation of Turkey.

Not that any of that really matters for the purposes at hand.  For what the Lord Jesus Christ was addressing to the church there was in regards to a state of mind—an attitude, if you will, and the message that was given is just as viable today as it was back then[1].

Perhaps you have heard something or another about it?  I cannot imagine anyone in the Christian community who has not.  For it is certainly a very popular subject to preach upon.

Tragically, there is good reason for that.  For it is quite natural of us to think that the way things appear to have always been is just the way it is[2]—perhaps even the way that it should be[3], and this is a very dangerous state of mind to be in[4].

No, this is not another call for an end to what is often referred to as being institutionalized religion.  For our Heavenly Father established His church in the name of His only begotten Son[5] to serve as reflection of His Light[6] in a world deeply steeped in the darkness of spiritual ignorance—much in the same way as a globe reflects the light of a lamp[7].

Neither is this a call for an end to the teaching of doctrine.  For it is impossible to truly believe in something if you do not know what it is, and doctrine is meant to help with that[8].

In other words, there is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater (so to speak).  For in many cases, just a change in perspective is all that is required[9].

It is, however, in those changes of perspective that the foundations of many religious institutions begin to crumble.  For it truly is as it is written: For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [1 Corinthians 3:11 NAS]

Yes, it sounds like just another futile exercise in semantics.  For common sense dictates that a vine[10] cannot grow in worthless soil[11].

Subsequently, many look at the church that they are in as being obvious proof of being in rich soil, but be assured that not all is as it seems.  For come Judgment Day[12]: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.  Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you.  Away from me, you evildoers!’” [Matthew 7:21-23 NIV]

Therefore, let us listen closely to what our Heavenly Father’s Holy Spirit has to say to the churches—even now in this day and age of post-modern sophistication[13].  For it would be better to swallow our pride while we still can than to have to taste its bitterness for all of eternity[14].

Of course, how can this happen when most have no idea that He is even speaking[15]?  For all knowledge and understanding comes from Him[16].

Yes, every individual member of every individual church wants to believe that they are of the Truth[17], but how can there be so many different beliefs if that is true when all who are truly in Christ are supposed to be like-minded[18]?  For it is written: There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all. [Ephesians 4:4-6 NAS]

Sites To See

The SOLE purpose of this weekly series is to call attention to sites that I think many would find most interesting—in one way or another.  Just to be clear, inclusion in this series is not necessarily meant as a recommendation, and I have included sites that are rather disturbing to me.  The link below each image is to the site itself, and each image is linked to the particular post from which it was taken when applicable.  Please, go see for yourself.

Robert Palmer vs. Weird Al Yankovic

Addicted To Love
Robert Palmer
Your lights are on
But you’re not home
Your mind
Is not your own
Your heart sweats
Your body shakes
Another kiss
Is what it takes
You can’t sleep no
You can’t eat
There’s no doubt
You’re in deep
Your throat is tight
You can’t breathe
Another kiss
Is all you need

Whoa
You like to think
That you’re immune to the stuff
Oh Yeah
It’s closer to the truth to say
You can’t get enough
You know you’re
Gonna have to face it
You’re addicted to love

You see the signs
But you can’t read
You’re runnin’ at
A different speed
Your heart beats
In double time
Another kiss
And you’ll be mind
A one track mind
You can’t be saved
Oblivion
Is all you crave
If there’s some
Left for you
You don’t mind
If you do

Whoa
You like to think
That you’re immune to the stuff
Oh yeah
It’s closer to the truth to say
You can’t get enough
You know you’re
Gonna have to face it
You’re addicted to love

Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love

Your lights are on
But you’re not home
Your will
Is not your own
Your heart sweats
Your teeth grind
Another kiss
And you’ll be mine

Whoa
You like to think
That you’re immune to the stuff
Oh yeah
It’s closer to the truth to say
You can’t get enough
You know you’re
Gonna have to face it
You’re addicted to love

Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to love

Addicted To Spuds
Weird Al Yankovic
Potato skins
Potato cakes
Hash browns
And instant flakes
Baked or boiled
Or French fried
There’s no kind
You haven’t tried
You planned a trip whoa
To Idaho
Just to watch
Potatoes grow
I understand
How you must feel
I can’t deny
They’ve got appeal

Whoa
You like them
Whether they are plain or stuffed
Oh yeah
Better face the facts
It seems you can’t get enough
You know
You’re gonna have to face it
You’re addicted to spuds

Your greasy hands
Your salty lips
Looks like
You found the chips
Your belly aches
Your teeth grind
Some tater tots
Would blow your mind
And you don’t mind
If they’re not cooked
You need your fix
I guess you’re hooked
And late at night
You always dream
Of bacon bits
And sour cream

Whoa
You like them even if
They’re lumpy or tough
Oh yeah
Wheeee
It’s pretty obvious to me
You can’t get enough
You know
You’re gonna have to face it
You’re addicted to spuds

Might as well face it
You’re addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
You’re addicted to spuds

Oh yeah

I’m givin’ up
It’s just no use
Another case
Of spud abuse
What can I say
What can I do
Potato bug
Has got me too

Whoa-oh
I used to hate ‘em
Not they’re all that I eat
Oh yeah
Wheeee
I’ve often seen them whipped
But they just can’t be beat
Now I’m gonna have to face it
I’m addicted to spuds

Might as well face it
I’m addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I’m addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I’m addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I’m addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I’m addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I’m addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I'm addicted to spuds
Might as well face it
I'm addicted to spuds

WhiteHeart Wednesday

Link: [Freedom]

MP3 Audio Player From: [BlogDumps Video]

I’ll Meet You There
WhiteHeart
I feel the chill of autumns wind
Seasons changin’ once again
And every moments best
Still one moment less
We spend
Together my friend
I can't hold back these tears in my eyes
This time I won't even try
For time has come and gone
Now we must move on
I'll admit I don't know why

Now we must say good-bye
To find our road ahead
Destiny leads us on
To another place
But I'll meet you there someday

We chase the future into past
Only to find it never lasts
By the time it's gone
The pain is so strong
In the end
But listen my friend
Although we've lost what was before
Forever will bring us the chance once more
In that time we'll see
What was meant to be
A special moment to cherish
For all of our lives

And we'll know in time
Why we must say good-bye
To find our road ahead
Destiny leads us on to another place
But I'll meet you there
From the lives we all leave behind
We find there's much more ahead
The Father will lead us on
To a better place
And I'll meet you there someday
I'll meet you there someday
I'll meet you there someday

TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

In Your Eyes
Peter Gabriel
Love
I get so lost
Sometimes
Days pass
And this emptiness fills my heart
When I want to run away
I drive off in my car
But whichever way I choose
I come back to the place you are

All my instincts
They return
And the grand façade
So soon will burn
Without a noise
Without my pride
I’ll reach out
From the inside

In your eyes
The light
The heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
The resolution
Of all the fruitless searches
In your eyes
I see the light
And the heat
In your eyes
Oh I want to be
That complete
I want to touch
The light
The heat
I see
In your eyes

Love
I don’t like to see so much pain
So much wasted
And this moment keeps slipping away
I get so tired
Of working so hard for our survival
I look to the time with you
To keep me awake and alive

And all my instincts
They return
And the grand façade
So soon will burn
Without a noise
Without my pride
I’ll reach out
From the inside

In your eyes
The light
The heat
In your eyes
I am complete
In your eyes
The resolution
Of all the fruitless searches
In your eyes
I see the light
And the heat
In your eyes
Oh I want to be
That complete
I want to touch
The light
The heat
I see
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes

Accepting all
That I don’t understand
I want to stop
And start again
‘Til there’s nothing left out
Of all that remains there
In your eyes
Whatever comes and goes
Oh what’s
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes
In your eyes

Solsbury Hill
Peter Gabriel
Climbing up on Solsbury Hill
I could see the city light
Winding was blowing
Time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close
I heard a voice
Standing
Stretching every nerve
Had to listen
Had no choice
I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My heart going
Boom
Boom
Boom
Son
He said
Grab your things
I’ve come to take you home

To keep in silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Thought my life was in a rut
‘Til I thought of what I’d say
Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart going
Boom
Boom
Boom
Hey
He said
Grab your things
I’ve come to take you home

Yeah
Back home

When illusion spins her net
I’m never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I don’t need a replacement
I’ll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart going
Boom
Boom
Boom
Hey
I said
You can keep my things
They’ve come to take me home
