Come Monday...Hallelujah

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about, websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time. Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.” This is subject to change, however. In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while. For rants promote change, and change can be good—right? Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

I have had a lot more “fun” the past couple of days than I was allowed and enabled to handle. So, there was nothing left to prepare what I wanted to post this time around. It will happen. That is, unless our Heavenly Father has other plans, of course.

In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy one of the finest songs ever composed. Be assured that there is more going on in the lyrics than can be naturally heard. Whether or not Mr. Cohen intended this, I have not been told, but that does not make it any less true.

Hallelujah
Leonard Cohen
Now I’ve hear there was a secret chord
That David played
And it pleased the Lord
But you don’t
Really care for music
Do you
It goes like this
The fourth
The fifth
The minor fall
The major rift
The baffled king
Composing
Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

Your faith was strong
But you needed proof
You saw her bathing
On the roof
Her beauty
And the moonlight
Overthrew ya
She tied you
To a kitchen chair
She broke your throne
And she cut your hair
And from your lips
She drew the
Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain
I don’t even know the name
But if I did
Well really
What’s it to ya
There’s a blaze of Light
In every word
It doesn’t matter
Which you heard
The Holy
Or the broken
Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

I did my best
It wasn’t much
I couldn’t feel
So I tried to touch
I’ve told the truth
I didn’t come
To fool you
And even though it all went wrong
I’ll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue
But
Hallelujah

Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah

A Sunday Drive

Back during my childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and I after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived. Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a weekly series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again. The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.

Real M'n'C - IX

The second book in line on FishHawk Droppings is [The Minister & The Crackerhead], and it is a fictitious account of an encounter between a more devoutly religious person (The Minister) and myself (The Crackerhead), based upon real events.  This series will be just like it—only these encounters will be real.  Granted, some of the text will have been changed in an effort to protect both the innocent and the guilty, but none of that will change anything about what was being conveyed.  No, none of this is meant to cast aspersions towards anyone, nor to make myself good.  In fact, be assured that I have been made all too painfully aware of the fact that most will not get the point of any of this.  For only those who have been allowed and enabled to understand can, but just how many who can will want to?  Therefore, if you have a question or an observation, please speak up—even if you sincerely believe that I may very well be one of Satan’s worst.

The Minister: If you don’t mind telling me, how sick are you and what exactly is wrong?

The Crackerhead: Clinically-speaking, I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Plain and simple, I feel like I have had a bad to severe case of the flu since 1993, and there is no known cure yet.

The Minister: Sorry to hear that.  I have studied a lot about CFS.

The Crackerhead: This is the reason for my affliction: [2 Corinthians 12:7-10].

The Minister: Is that the only thing you are sick of?

The Crackerhead: I am now 5' 9.5" instead of a full 6' tall, and I now weight over 400 pounds instead of 200.  I also have diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea—all of which are because of the CFS, I think.

The Minister: I see.  They are all serious issues but God is good all the time.  I hope you have not given up on having your health back?

The Crackerhead: Be assured that I hope that each day will be the day when my sufferings will come to an end—one way or another, and I know that it will be as it should be in the end.

The Minister: Sometimes I don't understand you.  You sound as if God wants you to be sick.

The Crackerhead: He does [2 Corinthians 12:7-10], but this is not to say that He wants me to stay sick.  Nonetheless, it may not be until my time as a part of this world comes to an end before it happens.

The Minister: He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us. [2 Corinthians 1:10 NIV]

The Crackerhead: Be assured that the deliverance that verse is referring to is from the peril of eternal spiritual death.  For if it was speaking of physical perils, none of His children by faith would ever get sick, have hardships or physically die [2 Corinthians 4:7-12].

The Minister: I get that, but what I know from the way we pray here is to call unto God to change our lives for the better—never accepting a negative report.  Like the Bible says, we see in part and prophesy in part [1 Corinthians 13:9].  We all understand the Bible differently in our own peculiar way and I have seen many people get healed even when the odds were against them.

The Crackerhead: It all comes down to perspective.  For [2 Corinthians 12:7-10] could be considered a negative report, but it is actually for the glory of our Heavenly Father.  The best example that I have to give you is your own childhood.  For your name has been written in our Heavenly Father's Book of Life since before you were physically born into this world, and yet, you were subjected to unspeakable horrors.

The Minister: Yes, and God has made me see He had a purpose for my life.  Today, when I feel like giving up, I remember my past and all God has brought me from.  Then I have hope again.

The Crackerhead: Be assured that I am not happy about my condition.  In fact, I would willingly trade some eternal glory in order to not have to suffer anymore in this world if such an option was available.  Thankfully, it is not, and my Heavenly Father is faithful not to hold my natural weaknesses against me.

The Minister: I see

The Crackerhead: As in regards to each of us having our own particular understanding, this is one of the things that I have been given much to speak about.  For we are supposed to have the mind of Christ, which means that we should all see things as He sees them, to the extent that He allows and enables us to.  In other words, we should not be so willing to just accept that it is because of individual differences that there is not more unity in the body of Christ.

The Minister: I understand the thing is in my life God has really made me wait for most precious things I have received.  Hence, the gift of patience and endurance.  So, I look unto God, the author and finisher of my faith, daily even when am being tested.

The Crackerhead: Yes, and I am very hopeful that He will open your eyes to see more clearly now.  For this is not about being saved, nor remaining saved.  It is about having a much more personal relationship with Him while we are still a part of this world.  For most see Him as being far away—even when they speak of Him as being near, and I hope He will make Himself as real (and maybe even much more so) to you as He has for me.

The Minister: Amen!  Like I said, God has a purpose for us all and He, Jesus, has visited me and shown me so many things that made me know He is so real.  What I am saying is I have faith that whatever we ask God for He will do it.  Ask Him for healing on behalf of yourself and your wife and He shall do it.

The Crackerhead: Yes, I have absolutely no doubts about the absolute truth of the matter truly being that nothing is too difficult for Him to accomplish.

The Minister: After praying this evening, this is what the Lord placed in my heart when I asked Him a question.  This is the reply from the Holy Spirit, "For there to be healing, there must first be a need to be healed."  So, do you want to be healed?  Then, simply ask Him, and He shall give you life and life abundantly.  Does this not answer the question about being delivered from physical afflictions???  When the Lord gave me that word, I was startled, and I thought it is so true.  You must need to be healed and believe in healing from God for healing to come.

The Crackerhead: Be assured that I need to be healed from my perspective, and I believe with all of my heart, mind and soul that our Heavenly Father is well able to heal me.  In fact, I have believed as much since before I got so sick.  Therefore, is my continued sickness the result of not having enough faith or is it just in accordance of His will for me to stay sick for at least a little while longer?

The Minister: Definitely, I can't say it's because of lack of faith.  The thing is, with God all things are possible.  If you have prayed, then there is no problem, but the thing is to pray continuous, persistent prayers.  Even when it's like you will not be healed, keep hoping for the best.

The Crackerhead: Much of what you have just said about praying continuously is addressed in The Minister & The Crackerhead, which is the second book in line on FishHawk Droppings.  Please continue to read through it when you are given the time.

Sites To See

The SOLE purpose of this weekly series is to call attention to sites that I think many would find most interesting—in one way or another. Just to be clear, inclusion in this series is not necessarily meant as a recommendation, and I have included sites that are rather disturbing to me. The link below each image is to the site itself, and each image is linked to the particular post from which it was taken when applicable. Please, go see for yourself.

The Doors vs. Weird Al Yankovic

Light My Fire
The Doors
You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl we couldn’t get much higher

Come on baby light my fire
Come on baby light my fire
Try to set the night on fire

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby light my fire
Come on baby light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Oh yeah

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre

Come on baby light my fire
Come on baby light my fire
Try to set the night on fire

You know that it would be untrue
You know that I would be a liar
If I was to say to you
Girl we couldn’t get much higher

Come on baby light my fire
Come on baby light my fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire
Try to set the night on fire

NOTE: The following song by Weird Al Yankovic is another homage to a particular style—instead of a parody of a particular song, and The Door’s Light My Fire was close enough for the girls I used to go out with. Again, I don’t think you’ll mind all that much, but if you do, just contact [Rush Limbaugh] or [Glenn Beck] and see how far you’ll get with something that doesn’t portray the [American Democratic Party] in a poor light.

Craigslist
Weird Al Yankovic
Whoa yeah

You’ve got a ’65
Chevy Malibu
With automatic drive
A custom paint job too
I’ll trade you for my old wheelbarrow
And a slightly-used sombrero
And I’ll even throw in a stapler
If you insist

Craigslist
I’m on Craigslist baby
Come on
Yeah

Well we shared a quick glance
Saturday at the mall
I never took a chance
Never approached you at all
You were a blonde half-Asian with a bad case of gas
I was wearin’ red Speedos and a hockey mask
Come on let’s find that love connection
That we missed

On Craigslist
Yeah Craigslist
Come on
I’m on Craigslist
Well baby
Maybe you are too
Bee bomp
A chonk
A donk
Bim bang boo

An open letter to the snotty barista
At the Coffee Bean on San Vicente Boulevard
I know there were 20 people behind me in line
But I was on cell phone call with my mother
Didn’t you see me hold up my index finger
That means I’ll order my soy decaf hazelnut latte
In just a couple of minutes
So what’s with the attitude lady
No tip for you

Got a trash can of Styrofoam peanuts
You can have ‘em for free
You can drop by on the weekend
And pick ‘em from me
But the trash can ain’t part of the deal
Only givin’ you the peanuts
Get real
Don’t have no Hefty bags
So bring your own
Don’t bug me with questions
On the phone
Don’t ask for help
Don’t waste my time
And don’t complain
‘Cause they won’t cost you a dime
Just ask yourself
Do you want my Styrofoam peanuts
You can have my Styrofoam peanuts
Do you want my Styrofoam peanuts
You can have ‘em all

They’re on Craigslist
Yeah
Craigslist
Oh baby
Come on
I’m on Craigslist

I’m on Craigslist

WhiteHeart Wednesday

MP3 Audio Player From: [BlogDumps Video]

Bye Bye Babylon
WhiteHeart
Walking back through history
To the mighty city
I put my feet on the streets of Babylon
The gold and glitter
Towering wonder
It’s all within the walls of Babylon
Strength and security
Comfort and safety
What could be better than living in Babylon
But their strength was just an illusion
Now this city lies in broken ruins

Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
This monument to pride is gone
Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
God was not your strength and song
Good bye Babylon

Rocket ride through time and space
It’s 3088
They’re diggin’ around in the dust of what we’ve done
Now people study me
I’m a part of history
Oh did we leave them another Babylon
Is there evidence of spiritual revival
Or did we leave a land of broken idols

Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
Is our monument the Holy One
Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
If God is not our strength and song
It’s good bye Babylon

Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
This monument to pride is gone
Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
Oh God was not your strength and song
Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
Is our monument the Holy One
Bye
Bye
Bye
Babylon
If God is not our strength and song
Good bye Babylon

TWO FOR TUESDAY

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world. For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair, and others will be quite obviously ferverent rants of rebellion. Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

People Are Strange
The Doors
People are strange
When you’re a stranger
Faces look ugly
When you’re alone
Women seem wicked
When you’re unwanted
Streets are uneven
When you’re down

When you’re strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you’re strange
No one remembers your name
When you’re strange
When you’re strange
When you’re strange

People are strange
When you’re a stranger
Faces look ugly
When you’re alone
Women seem wicked
When you’re unwanted
Streets are uneven
When you’re down

When you’re strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you’re strange
No one remembers your name
When you’re strange
When you’re strange
When you’re strange

When you’re strange
Faces come out of the rain
When you’re strange
No one remembers your name
When you’re strange
When you’re strange
When you’re strange

Riders On The Storm
The Doors
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out alone
Riders on the storm

There’s a killer on the road
His brain is squirmin’ like a toad
Take a long holiday
Let your children play
If you give this man a ride
Sweet memory will die
Killer on the road
Yeah

Girl you gotta love your man
Girl you gotta love your man
Take him by the hand
Make him understand
The world on you depends
Our life will never end
Gotta love your man
Yeah

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Into this house we’re born
Into this world we’re thrown
Like a dog without a bone
An actor out alone
Riders on the storm

Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
Riders on the storm
