Sites To See

The SOLE purpose of this weekly series is to help call attention to sites that I think many would find most interesting—in one way or another.  Just to be clear, inclusion in this series is not necessarily meant as a recommendation, and I have included sites that are rather disturbing to me.  The link below each image is to the site itself, and each image is linked to the particular post from which it was taken when applicable.  Please, go see for yourself.  Oh, and as of August 10, 2012, I will be no longer including sites that have auto-play and word verification engaged.

ATF: Hardly Seeing

This weekly series will include as many of my all-time favorite tunes as I can get my grubby little hands on (so to speak).  Now, each one included in each edition will have some connection with the other—albeit only as a figment of my imagination, but they will not be numbered.  For I just cannot bring myself to rate some higher than others.  So, this will not be a countdown, but if you are enjoying them as much as I do, it won’t matter.  Besides, with no countdown, this could go on forever and ever!  Oh, and despite the fact that there is absolutely no way that your musical tastes can be as exquisite as mine, I welcome any suggestions that you might dare to make.  I am, after all, quite magnanimous by nature.

Dancing in the Dark
Bruce Springsteen
I get up in the evenin’
And I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the mornin’
I go to bed
Feelin’ the same way
I ain't nothing but tired
Man I'm just tired
And bored with myself
Hey there baby
I could use just a little help

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire
Without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just
Dancin’ in the dark

Messages keeps getting’ clearer
Radio's on
And I'm moving 'round the place
I check my look in the mirror
I wanna change
My clothes
My hair
My face
Man I ain't getting’ nowhere
Just livin’ in a dump like this
There's something happening somewhere
Baby
I just know that there is

You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire
Without a spark
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just
Dancin’ in the dark

You sit around getting’ older
There's a joke here somewhere
And it's on me
I'll shake this world off my shoulders
Come on baby
The laugh's on me
Stay on the streets of this town
And they'll be carvin’ you up all right
They say you gotta stay hungry
Hey baby
I'm just about starvin’ tonight
I'm dyin’ for some action
I'm sick of sittin’ 'round here
Trying to write this book
I need a love reaction
Come on now baby
Gimme just one look
You can't start a fire
Sittin’ around
Cryin’ over a broken heart
This gun's for hire
Even if we're just
Dancin’ in the dark
You can't start a fire
Worryin’ about your
Little world fallin’ apart
This gun's for hire
Even if we’re just
Dancin’ in the dark
Even if we’re just
Dancin’ in the dark
Even if we’re just
Dancin’ in the dark
Even if we’re just
Dancin’ in the dark

Hey baby

Stumbling Through The Dark
The Jayhawks
You're so in love
Little girl
So much in love
Little girl
Runnin' around in circles
Why
You know it's a crime
No less
No more
Than a rose
No less
No more
Than a rose
Try to attach a meanin’
To words that you've heard

Stumblin’ through the dark
Seems I'm stumblin’ through the dark
Everybody's stumblin’ through the dark

The men who proceeded us here
Left only questions and fears
The vanity formed by beauty lies
You know it's a crime

Stumblin’ through the dark
Seems I'm stumblin’ through the dark
Everybody's stumblin’ through the dark

Stumblin’ through the dark
Seems I'm stumblin’ through the dark
Everybody's stumblin’ through the dark

Good, Bad and Ugly Ads

Since I have not been given much of a life, I watch an awful lot of television, which includes an awful lot of commercials.  Now, a “GOOD” ad is one that holds my attention and makes me want to at least learn more about the product or service it is for.  A “BAD” ad is one that quickly becomes nothing more than background noise when it cannot be skipped over.  “UGLY” ads are much worse.  For not only do they make we want to never see them again, they make me want to never have anything to do with the company that paid for them to be produced.  Of course, you may feel differently, but I sure wouldn’t say much about it around anyone with a lick of sense.  For I am, after all, an expert on such things—albeit only in my own mind!

TFT: Earth, Wind & Fire

Not every song that will be featured here will be what is generally considered as being “Christian” in the eyes of this world.  For some will be anguished cries from the pit of despair while others will be quite obviously fervent rants of rebellion.  Nonetheless, be assured that they will all be of our Heavenly Father (in one way or another) and I hope that you have been given ears to hear the message.

Shining Star
Earth, Wind & Fire
Yeah
Yeah
Hey

Huh

When you wish upon a star
Your dreams will take you very far
Yeah
When you wish upon a dream
Life ain't always what it seems
Oh yeah
Once you see your Light so clear
Hey
In the sky so very dear

You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you can truly be
What you can truly be

Shining star come into view
To shine His watchful Light on you
Yeah
Give you strength to carry on
Yeah
Girl
Make your body big and strong
Yeah
Born a man-child of the Son
Yeah
Yeah
Saw my work had just begun
Yeah
Found I had to stand alone
Yeah
Well
Bless it now I've got my own
Oh yeah
So if you find yourself in need
Why don’tcha listen to His words of heed
Be a giant
Or grain of sand
Words of wisdom
Yes I can

You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you can truly be
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you can truly be
You're a shining star
No matter who you are
Shining bright to see
What you can truly be

Shining star for you to see
What your life can truly be
Shining star for you to see
What your life can truly be
Shining star for you to see
What your life can truly be

September
Earth, Wind & Fire
Do you remember
The twenty-first night
Of September
Love was changing the minds
Of pretenders
While chasing the clouds away

Our hearts were ringing
In the key that our souls were singing
As we danced in the night
Remember
How the stars stole the night away

Ba de ya
Say do you remember
Ba de ya
Dancing in September
Ba de ya
Never was a cloudy day

My thoughts are with you
Holding hands with your heart
To see you
Only blue talk and love
Remember
How we knew love was here
To stay
Now December
Found the love that we shared
In September
Only blue talk and love
Remember
The true love we share
Today

Ba de ya
Say do you remember
Ba de ya
Dancing in September
Ba de ya
Never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya de ya
Say do you remember
Ba de ya de ya
Dancing in September
Ba de ya de ya
Golden dreams were shiny days

Those bells were ringing
Our souls were singing
Do your remember
Never a cloudy day
Now

Ba de ya de ay
Say do you remember
Ba de ya de ya
Dancing in September
Ba de ya de ya
Never was a cloudy day
Ba de ya de ya
Say do you remember
Ba de ya de ya
Dancing in September
Ba de ya de ya
Golden dreams were shiny days

Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
De ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya
Ba de ya de ya de ya

Come Monday...The Poop on Poop and Spam

“Come Monday…” is a weekly series that will involve a review of, or commentary about,  websites, movies, documentaries, television shows, sports, music, and whatever else may tickle my fancy at the time.  Be assured that these reviews will be generally positive, as in accordance to the Jimmy Buffett song “Come Monday.”  This is subject to change, however.  In fact, I would be most derelict in my duties to neglect going on a rant every once in a while.  For rants promote change, and change can be good—right?  Therefore, since good is generally considered as being a positive force in 99.3% of the parallel universes that I am aware of, even a rant could be considered as being something positive, and a genuine hissy-fit would be even better (so I’m told).

First of all, I would like to clear the air concerning any confusion over this being about pooping spam.  Although, one might wonder with all of it coming my way lately.

Hey, there have been some days when a total of over a hundred spam comments were left on several of my pieces on all three of my sites, and over 70% of them were getting through the Blogger spam filter.  Hence, the reason why I have started moderating comments after keeping the door wide open since the beginning of my online odyssey six years ago tomorrow.

Be assured that the door is still open to all legitimate comments.  It is arguable that anyone who would be critical of my “stuff” has to be illegitimate, though.

Alas, I was so excited the first time I saw where I had received a comment on one of my endeavors to persevere.  Nonetheless, I was somewhat confused about what selling T-shirts out of Portugal had to do with the theological matter being addressed in the article.

Hopefully, that clears the air of any lingering concerns over the spam issue.  So, let us get to the poop on poop—posthaste!

Yeah, I realize that many are of the opinion that it is an untouchable subject.  However, a big part of the intrepid reporter job description is to have a willingness to wade through the muck and mire until a story can be found.

Be assured that I hope I am not dumping too much upon you at once, but the poop on poop is that proper pooping really is an essential part of maintaining good health—especially for those suffering from cirrhosis of the liver.  For dangerous levels of ammonia can build up in the bloodstream if one does not watch what they doing.

Ironically, one often does not have a clue about what they are doing when those ammonia levels become too high.  For they slip into what appears to be a drunken stupor, and taking [Lactulose] helps to bring my beloved wife back to me.

Of course, there have been times when I have watered down her medicine in order to keep her being sweet, but that is another topic for another day.  (Yes, I am just kidding about watering down her medicine…kinda.)

Thankfully, she was finally approved for Medicaid.  For we were having to spend almost a $100.00 a week on just Lactulose, and that should now be down to less than $10.00!

She keeps insisting that I need to start taking the stuff.  Be assured that I have no idea why, but I have met several out here in cyberspace in desperate need of a good poop.

So, let me end this with a question that can now be heard being asked around mid-morning of most days in our home.  Have you pooped yet?

A Sunday Drive

Back during my childhood, our parents would often load up my brother and me after Sunday morning church services for a leisurely drive around where we lived.  Even though we were seeing mostly familiar sights, it was still good to see them, and this is why “A Sunday Drive” sounded about right for the name of a weekly series revisiting familiar sites that are well worth seeing again and again.  The link below the image is to the site itself, and the image is linked to the post it was first included in here.

ESPN Additions

Ironically, some of the best television commercials are for ESPN, and only air on ESPN.  Now, I do not know if these ads really are meant to add all the more to the viewing experience, but it works for me.

ATF: God's Country

God’s Will
Martina McBride
I met God’s Will on a Halloween night
He was dressed as a bag of leaves
It hid the braces on his legs at first
His smile was as bright as the August sun
When he looked at me
As he struggled down the driveway
It almost made me hurt
Will don’t walk too good
Will don’t talk too good
He won’t do the things that the other kids do
In our neighborhood

I’ve been
Searchin’
Wonderin’
Thinkin’
Lost
And lookin’
All my life
I’ve been
Wounded
Jaded
Loved
And hated
I’ve wrestled wrong and right
He was a boy without a father
And his mother’s miracle
I’ve been
Readin’
Writin’
Prayin’
Fightin’
I guess I would be still
Yeah
That was until
I knew God’s Will

Will’s mom had to work two jobs
We’d watch him when she had to work late
And we’d all laugh like I hadn’t laughed
Since I don’t know when
Hey Jude was his favorite song
At dinner he’d ask to pray
And then he’d pray for everybody in the world
But him

I’ve been
Searchin’
Wonderin’
Thinkin’
Lost
And lookin’
All my life
I’ve been
Wounded
Jaded
Loved
And hated
I’ve wrestled wrong and right
He was a boy without a father
And his mother’s miracle
I’ve been
Readin’
Writin’
Prayin’
Fightin’
I guess I would be still
Yeah
That was until
I knew God’s Will

Before they moved to California
His mother said they didn’t think he’d live
And she said each day that I have him
Well
It’s just another gift
And I never got to tell her
That the boy showed me the truth
In crayon red
On notebook paper
He written me and God
Love you

I’ve been
Searchin’
Prayin’
Wounded
Jaded
I guess I would be still
Yeah
That was until

I met God’s Will on a Halloween night
He was dressed as a bag of leaves

Jesus, Take The Wheel
Carrie Underwood
She was drivin’ last Friday
On her way to Cincinnati
On a snow white Christmas Eve
Goin’ home to see her Mama and her Daddy
With the baby in the backseat
 Fifty miles to go
And she was runnin’ low
On faith and gasoline
It'd been a long hard year
She had a lot on her mind
And she didn't pay attention
She was goin’ way too fast
Before she knew it she was spinning on
A thin black sheet of glass
She saw both their lives flash before her eyes
She didn't even have time to cry
 She was so scared
She threw her hands up in the air

Jesus
Take the wheel
 Take it from my hands
 ‘Cause I can't do this
On my own
 I'm a-letting go
So give me one more chance
 To save me from this
Road I'm on
 Jesus
Take the wheel

It was still gettin’ colder
When she made it to the shoulder
And the car came to a stop
She cried when she saw that baby in the backseat
Sleepin’ like a rock
And for the first time in a long time
She bowed her head to pray
She said I'm sorry for the way
 I've been livin’ my life
I know I've got to change
 So from now on tonight

Jesus
Take the wheel
 Take it from my hands
 ‘Cause I can't do this
On my own
 I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
 To save me from this
Road I'm on
 Oh
Jesus
Take the wheel

Oh I'm letting go
So give me one more chance
 Save me from this
Road I'm on
 From this road I'm on
 Jesus
Take the wheel
 Oh
Take it
Take it from me
 Oh
Now
Ooooooh
Ooooh
