Absolutely Awful PCH Ads

To be completely honest about it, I just could not bear to rate any of these ads as being even the slightest bit less awful than the others.  Therefore, I have deemed them all equally awful in the order that I first saw each one.  No, it is not that I hold [Different Strokes], [Gilligan’s Island] and [The Brady Bunch] to be sacred, but I must admit that there is an extenuating circumstance in play.  For around a month after Arlynda and I were married, I got suckered into thinking that I was on the verge of winning something big in the [Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes] by their deceptive ways of wording things.  Thankfully, this did not result in the wasting of much money on subscribing to magazines that were not necessary to maintain our martial bliss, but I sure felt like an idiot when it finally became clear what they were really doing.

AWFUL

  1. It's so funny, but often times I find myself thinking about hmm wonder what rating Jerry might give this one! I just saw one of my favorite cute little commercial girls, (she does the first day of school ad with her dad waiting for the bus) The love of you now which car dealer right?! She was on the Mike and Molly show, it was so cool even my hubby knew who she was. She's going to go far if she gets the right agent!!!

  2. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Karen!!! Yes, I know which commercial you are referring to, and Arlynda and I both love it. So, it will most definitely be included as at least a "GOOD" when the time comes.

I did not know that she was on Mike & Molly, however. I will have to ask Arlynda if she remembers her. I used to be as big of a fan of the show as she is, but not so much anymore.

  4. Hello, Jerry. Thanks for stopping by "Remembrances of An Arkansas Stamper" and leaving a comment about my Iris bloom. I appreciate your visit.

I made a trip over to your Fishhawk Droppings site, and really enjoyed reading several of your Cracker Crumb posts. I do like family histories. I'll be back.

In regard to the PCH ads, I agree with you wholeheartedly!

  5. If something looks too good to be real, it isn't 99.9% of the time. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

People standing at your front door waving a cheque/check showing an overly large amount of money thereon in your face are to be taken with a grain of salt...and a mouthful of water! ;)

  9. Thanks for stopping by, my dear Adullamite!!! I heard something on one of the news outlets about our Powerball Lottery jackpot (I think) becoming huge again. Sigh.
